BAND TO PLAY BBC RADIO 2’S ‘FESTIVAL IN A DAY’ IN HYDE PARK ON SEPTEMBER 13TH
Ward Thomas have announced details of a new single ‘Guest List’. Set to impact on August 28th, the release is taken from the band’s award winning debut album ‘From Where We Stand’. The album’s previous singles have all been playlisted on Radio 2, with two achieving A – list status on the station.
The band are also playing a number of live dates across the Summer and Autumn including an upcoming main stage appearance at Radio 2’s ‘Festival In A Day’ in Hyde Park on September 13th, where they will be performing alongside fellow UK country act The Shires. In 2014 Ward Thomas headlined the BBC Introducing stage at the same event; a move up to the main stage shows the huge strides they have made in the last 12 months and a recognition of the burgeoning UK Country scene.
‘Guest List’ is one of the standout tracks from the album and a big crowd favourite at the band’s live shows. Featuring a fantastically catchy chorus and classic country guitar lines, this cut always felt like an obvious choice for a single. The track has received a new single mix by Dave Bascombe (Lady Antebellum, Tears For Fears, Goldfrapp, Peter Gabriel).
“There’s an edge to their material, and particularly to some of their big, harmony – laden choruses that you just won’t find in American country” Acoustic Magazine
2015 has already been a fantastic year for Ward Thomas. A session on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast show, an appearance in the main 02 Arena at the C2C Festival and a triumphant 18 – date UK tour that included their biggest headline London show to date at Islington’s Assembly Hall, have all been standout moments.
In addition to the aforementioned Radio 2 show, Ward Thomas, twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy, will be playing a number of other festivals this summer and have already opened the main stage at the legendary Isle of Wight festival as well as playing the main stage at Cornbury. They will also be appearing at Country Collective in Canary Wharf in London, Cambridge Folk Festival, Secret Garden Party, Carfest – both North & South and Cottingham Folk Festival amongst others. Ward Thomas have also recently announced a headline London show this November at The Lexington in Islington as part of the second London Folk & Roots festival.
