Arista Nashville/RCA Records singer/songwriter Cam has been announced to perform at this year’s Apple Music Festival in London. The festival, which takes place at London’s Roundhouse, will feature a performance by Cam on September 21, the evening headlined by superstar Carrie Underwood. Apple will broadcast all performances to music fans around the world for free, live or on-demand via Apple Music and in stunning HD with Apple TV.
UK Country superstars, The Shires, who this year became the first ever UK Country act to break the Top 10 on iTunes, this week announce that they will be performing alongside Carrie Underwood at this year’s Apple Music Festival London, at the Roundhouse on Monday 21 September.
With the news, Cam shared, “I’ve been hearing from fans in the UK all year over social media and I’ve been looking for a chance to get over there to play for them. What an incredible opportunity to make my UK debut at Apple Music Festival!”
The Shires said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be added to the Apple Music Festival London line up. We are huge fans of Carrie, so to be sharing the stage with her will be an incredible experience. Country music is continuing to become more and more popular in the UK, and it’s great that Apple are acknowledging the genre with an evening devoted exclusively to country music at the festival.”
The Shires also recently announced they will be supporting Ireland’s finest, The Corrs, on their first tour of the UK in ten years, which will take in cities across the UK in January 2016. The Shires stated: “We are big fans of the Corrs and were delighted when we heard they were performing together again. To be invited to share their stage is a real honour and it will be great to get our first taste of playing a UK arena main stage!!”
The Shires will join The Corrs throughout their entire arena tour, which kicks off on January 19th at the Birmingham Genting Arena and closes at Belfast’s The SSE Arena on 29 January.
Apple hosted the iTunes Festival in London for eight years and renamed the event after the launch of Apple Music. This year’s performers previously announced include Carrie Underwood, Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Florence + The Machine, The Weeknd, The Chemical Brothers, Take That, and Disclosure. The Shires, whose meteoric rise has seen them become one of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2015 and score a Top 10 for their debut album ‘Brave’. Since their Top 10 in March, The Shires have gone from strength to strength, supporting Tom Jones on tour, securing high rotation at Radio 2, and playing Country music’s most important stage: Nashville’s The Grand Ole Opry. The sound of the summer 2015 was definitely UK country as The Shires also made their debut on the UK festival circuit, performing exclusively across countless high profile festivals including Glastonbury, Isle Of Wight, Larmer Tree and Camp Bestival.
The Shires will not be taking a rest after their packed summer schedule and plan to go straight back out on the road again, touring the UK through October. The tour will begin at Bedford Corn Exchange on 1 October and will culminate in a headline show at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 24 October. Full dates detailed on the bands official website.
The duo will also support US country music superstars Little Big Town on their Pain Killer tour in the USA this year, marking another significant landmark moment in their domination of the UK country scene and also their rapidly developing profile in the United States.
The announcement of Cam’s appearance comes in tandem with the growing success of her breakthrough hit, “Burning House,” which vaults into the Top 20 at country radio this week, advancing to #19 and #20 respectively on the Billboard and Country Aircheck country airplay charts.
Cam’s first Top 10 on Billboard’s airplay/sales/streaming-based Hot Country Songs, “Burning House” this week jumps to #8 as the digital single logs its fourth consecutive week inside the Top 5 of Billboard’s Country Digital Songs sales chart.
Cam’s EP and upcoming full-length album are produced by GRAMMY®-winner Jeff Bhasker (Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, FUN., The Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift) and Tyler Johnson (Ed Sheeran, OneRepublic, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Mikky Ekko), with “Burning House” co-written by Cam, Bhasker, and Johnson.
