iTunes UK Country Chart Roundup – Week of 9th October, 2015

The Shires, as usual, are out doing promo, and a recent appearance on Graham Norton, combined with the announcement of new single ‘I Just Wanna Love You’, C2C line-up news and their pending UK tour this month, has meant that they hold #1 and #2 on Country Albums this week. They dislodge Don Henley, whose ‘Cass County’ drops to #5, and even the Nashville soundtrack, whose highest entry is at #3 (Season 3, Volume 2). Elsewhere we find ‘Season 3, Volume 1’ at #15, in the same week as the season 3 finale airs on UK screens, and I think we may see gradually less of the show’s offerings as weeks go on.

The C2C announcement has boosted the albums of several of the line-up, beginning with Little Big Town’s ‘Pain Killer’ at #6 (after all, they did play the launch show), and followed by the pre-order of Carrie Underwood’s ‘Storyteller’ at #12 (and ‘Greatest Hits: Decade #1’ at #25), Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Pageant Material’ at #14, Chris Stapleton’s ‘Traveller’ at #16, Miranda Lambert’s ‘Platinum’ at #19, Sam Hunt’s ‘Montevallo’ at #22 and Thomas Rhett’s ‘Tangled Up’ at #23. Line-up missing from the top 25 are Ashley Monroe, Dwight Yoakam, Maddie & Tae, Eric Church, and Andrew Combs. Meanwhile, Shania Twain has jumped to #4 with ‘Come On Over’ and #11 with ‘Greatest Hits’, while Taylor Swift occupies plenty of space. ‘Red (Deluxe Version)’ comes in at #7, ‘Fearless (Platinum Edition)’ is at #9, ‘Red’ at #10, ‘Speak Now (Bonus Track Version)’ falls to #17, ‘Fearless’ is down at #18 and ‘Taylor Swift’ closes out at #20.

Jana Kramer has a new album out this week, and her sophomore release ‘Thirty One’ debuts at #13, while Zac Brown Band’s ever-popular ‘Jekyll + Hyde’ is at #21 and Johnny Cash picks up positions at #8 and #24. Over on Country Songs Taylor Swift is the leader however, pushing ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ all the way to #1 and followed by six of her other career tracks. Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’ leaps to #2 while The Shires are at #4 with ‘All Over Again’ and #19 with ‘State Lines’, either side of Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ at #9. Carrie Underwood is having a decent week, as ‘Heartbeat’, one of the instant grat tracks from her upcoming album, comes in at #6, ahead of ‘Smoke Break’ at #7 and ‘Before He Cheats’ at #13. We also see Luke Bryan’s current single ‘Strip It Down’ at #14 and Sam Hunt’s ‘Take Your Time’ at #15, while Don Henley’s ‘Take A Picture of This’ takes #20 and two classic tracks from Shania Twain occupy #21, #22 and #24. Other entries come from Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, John Denver and The Mavericks.

That’s it for this week; come back next Friday for another iTunes UK roundup!
