iTunes UK Country Chart Roundup – Week of 13th November, 2015

Carrie Underwood is back to reigning on Country albums this week, as ‘Storyteller’ jumps from #3 to #1. Last week’s chart-topper, Chris Stapleton’s buzzy ‘Traveller’, has dropped to #9 – while Tim McGraw’s ‘Damn Country Music’ (last week’s #2) is now at #7. In their places are The Shires with ‘Brave (Deluxe)’ at #2 (‘Brave’ is at #6) and Eric Church’s surprise release ‘Mr. Misunderstood’ at #3, which first hit iTunes UK earlier this week. Behind them is Chris Young’s brand new album ‘I’m Comin’ Over’ at #4, while Kacey Musgraves’ current UK tour has pushed ‘Pageant Material’ to #11. Striking Matches are also on tour over here right now, and thus ‘Nothing But The Silence’ gets a big boost to #21, while Steve ‘n’ Seagulls enter the top 25 for the first time with ‘Farm Machine’ at #17.

Taylor Swift’s highest bow this week is ‘Speak Now (Bonus Track Version)’ at #14, with ‘Taylor Swift’ following at #16, ‘Red’ at #18 and ‘Red (Deluxe Version)’ down at #24. Among her entries are Dolly Parton’s ‘Blue Smoke – The Best of’ at #15 following a leap, ‘The Essential Alison Krauss’ at #19, Carrie Underwood’s ‘Greatest Hits: Decade #1’ at #20 and Luke Bryan’s ‘Kill The Lights’ at #22. Elsewhere Johnny Cash continues to sell well, with ‘The Legend of’ rising to #5 and ‘The Man Comes Around’ hopping in at #25, while Shania Twain holds #8 with her ‘Greatest Hits’ and #13 with ‘Come On Over’. What’s more, Don Williams makes his first appearance in a very long time this week, with ‘The Definitive’ coming in at #10, ahead of Kenny Rogers’ ‘Daytime Friends – The Very Best of’ at #12. Finally, Sam Hunt’s ‘Montevallo’ charts at #23.

Dolly Parton is having a good week, as ‘Islands In The Stream’ is back to #1 on Country Songs, although unusually she doesn’t have any other songs inside the top 25. Below her is Dan&Charlie at #2 with ‘I Won’t Love’, while next up is Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ at #3. Swift goes on to get a total of six songs in the top 25. Luke Bryan’s ‘Strip It Down’ is at #4 and Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ is as usual at #5, while other high charters include Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’ (#8), Johnny Cash’s ‘Hurt’ (#6), Shania Twain’s ‘You’re Still The One’ (#13) and Kacey Musgraves’ ‘Dime Store Cowgirl’ (#14). The Shires’ highest position this week is #15 with latest release ‘I Just Wanna Love You’, while Chris Stapleton’s is #16 with CMA Awards performance ‘Tennessee Whiskey’, and Carrie Underwood’s is #17 with current single ‘Smoke Break’. Carrie also appears at #25 with ‘Before He Cheats’, and in between her two positions are further contenders from Johnny Cash and Shania Twain, in addition to Skeeter Davis’ ‘The End of The World’ (#21) and Joey + Rory’s ‘When I’m Gone’ (#22), in tribute to Joey, who is dying of cancer.

That’s it for this week; come back next Friday for another edition of the iTunes UK roundup.
