It’s been 18 months since Blake Shelton released new music, and last Tuesday he did so with “Came Here To Forget” debuting this week on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck Chart at 26 and Most Added on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart at 18, tying his highest debut ever.  With over 53,000 singles sold in just 3 days, “Came Here To Forget,” immediately raced to the No. 1 spot on iTunes’ All Genre and Country Charts.

The track is the first single off his forthcoming 12th studio album, If I’m Honest, set to release on Warner Bros. Records May 20. “This is the most excited I’ve been about a new album since the release of my second record,” said Shelton.

“I’ve had a lot of music over the years,” he continued, “but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life.” Written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan, “Came Here To Forget” is an intimate snapshot of a couple’s encounter at a bar.

It was also recently announced that he will be the subject of a career-spanning exhibition at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story, which opens May 27, 2016, will examine the star’s road to success, from his childhood to his move to Nashville as a teen, and from his multi-platinum recording breakthrough to becoming a national celebrity on NBC’s two-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition The Voice. A range of artifacts, including stage wear, instruments, song manuscripts, photos, and personal items will help tell the story of Shelton’s struggles and triumphs.

Shelton hosted Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards this past weekend and his ‘Blake Shelton 2016 Tour Presented by Gildan’ concludes this weekend with stops in New York and Pennsylvania. A four-time champion coach, Shelton is currently re-united with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams for his tenth season on The Voice.
