Introducing: Dylan Jakobsen

Amanda Harle Photography

Amanda Harle Photography

22 years old and based in Seattle, WA, let me introduce you to Dylan Jakobsen, a name I recently discovered by the way of his single “Working Man”. Having never heard of him before I headed into listening to this track having no previous opinion or bias and after 4 and a half minutes I can now say I am a fan.

With country music having taken a turn for the pop and R&B side of things in recent years, it was refreshing to hear a young guy with so much talent and clear passion for the music. “Working Man” is all about that working class American guy. He is polite, he loves his family, he provides for his family in any way that he can whether that is ‘stacking shelves in a corner store’ or working in the fields. The story takes you from a young man living with his parents through to him getting married and having a little boy of his own. That little boy in the song is Dylan which brings the lyrics nicely full circle.

Kristian Bush On Playing The UK, Being A New Artist And The Stapleton Watershed – Interview

kristianbush_profile

Kristian Bush released his debut solo album ‘Southern Gravity’ earlier this year, while Sugarland took a hiatus. Spawning the singles ‘Trailer Hitch’ and ‘Light Me Up’, the album came after many hundreds of songs were written and recorded. But it all started at C2C 2013 when Kristian became the first artist ever to play the event, and this weekend he returned to London for the first time since to play the inaugural C2C Social event at O2 Arena’s Brooklyn Bowl. I got the chance to speak to him ahead of the show.

49th Annual CMA Awards | November 4, 2015 – Recap

Last night was the biggest night in country music for 2015. You name a country music star and they were there last night on the red carpet donning their suits and dresses ready for an evening of music and well deserved recognition. The atmosphere in the Bridgestone arena was pumping and no doubt was partly due to the anticipation of the Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton performance, which as I’m sure you will have seen was something pretty special.

On Sunday Dierks Bentley and a few of his friends treated a sold out audience at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville to one hell of a concert! The night was all in aid of the charity Miles & Music for Kids which has been helping raise money for 10 years! This year a whopping $636,479 was raised for Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt. With an influx of kids needing the treatment the center is looking to expand and build an additional 4 floors so all the proceeds raised will go to that. You might be wondering what the ‘Miles’ part is though… They put on a concert. That much you already know from above. Dierks is also an avid biker and takes great pride in his Indian motorcycle that he rode from Columbia, TN yesterday into Nashville leading hundreds of riders behind him in support of the charity.

On Wednesday night, in Nashville, at a little place you may have heard of called the Bluebird Café four incredibly talented songwriters took to the ‘round’ to showcase their music to an attentive audience. I was fortunate enough to be a part of it!

Hailey Whitters, who has just released her debut album Black Sheep, host of the evening’s musical antics was first to play but not before she introduced the 3 musicians she was sharing the spotlight with. Clint Daniels, Adam Wright and Matraca Berg were her picks for the night and I was soon to find out much more about them!
