In the first Billboard Chart Roundup of 2015, there is naturally little movement after things went stagnant for the Christmas New Year period. The majority of the Country Airplay chart doesn’t move at all, although it does just enough to allow Brad Paisley’s ‘Perfect Storm’ to take #1 for its first week. Meanwhile his fellow CMA Awards host Carrie Underwood continues to dominate Hot Country Songs with ‘Something In The Water’ (it’s #5 at radio), and she also takes the #1 spot on Country Digital Songs, too. However, it’s an act that no longer identifies as country that helms Country Streaming Songs, and that act is Taylor Swift. Her 2012 smash hit ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ is the offending track and it’s followed by a number of her other previous hits on that same chart. Elsewhere Jason Aldean’s ‘Old Boots, New Dirt’ steals #1 on Top Country Albums for the third week in a row, representing the bro-country movement that has been ignored of late in favour of the R&B country pushed by Sam Hunt. Are the tides turning yet again? Read on for the full top 50s of each chart, organized handily by artist.
