Country Music Hall of Fame 2016 Inductees Are Randy Travis, Charlie Daniels, Fred Foster

The Country Music Association announced today that Charlie Daniels, Fred Foster, and Randy Travis will become the newest members of the revered Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

Daniels will be inducted in the “Veterans Era Artist” category, while Travis will be inducted in the “Modern Era Artist” category. Foster will be inducted in the “Non-Performer” category, which is awarded every third year in a rotation with the “Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980” and “Songwriter” categories. Daniels, Foster, and Travis will increase membership in the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame from 127 to 130 members. It is the first time that all of the inductees hail from the same state (North Carolina) since 1985.

I have seen every CMA Songwriters event to grace the O2 Arena, and there are always high expectations. I love the camaraderie and collaboration of the artists and songwriters, the sprinkling of hits with little-known gems and brand new material, and how the crowd treats the performers with such reverence. There’s the stories, too; how the songs came to be and little tidbits of the aftermath of their release. This show was no different, and yet it was on a higher level than any songwriters show I had seen yet.

The Country Music Association announced today the new Board of Directors. The appointments are effective Jan. 1, 2016.

Frank Bumstead completes his term as Chairman of the CMA Board and current CMA Board President John Esposito, President and CEO of Warner Music Nashville, assumes that post. CMA President-Elect Sally Williams, General Manager of Ryman Auditorium, will become President. Bill Simmons, Vice President at The Fitzgerald Hartley Company, has been named President-Elect.Jessie Schmidt, President of Schmidt Relations, returns as Secretary/Treasurer of the CMA Board.

The show was the brain child of creator Callie Khouri and has had a fantastic impact upon the music industry within Nashville.
