Little Big Town, David Nail, Ashley Monroe @ Starlight Theatre, Kansas City, MO | August 29, 2015 – Review

From my previous experience of seeing Little Big Town live, I knew how incredible their show was, and just how much energy they put into making sure their fans leave having had an incredible experience. On this tour however, they have really surpassed themselves, providing openers of the very highest quality in Ashley Monroe and David Nail, both artists that I would travel some miles to see doing a headline show. Having said that, the line up didn’t stop there, since the show was actually kicked off with a set provided by Cam. I’m glad I was early for the show, because Cam is a fabulous live performer, with a small but quality reservoir of songs, including the moving ‘Burning House’.

David Nail ‘Night’s On Fire’ – Single Review

DavidNailNights

David Nail caught my attention 6 years ago when I heard his track ‘Red Light’, the first to make a real impact on the country scene. Since then he has had other chart topping singles, including a number one with the track ‘Let It Rain’ featuring Sarah Buxton. It is fair to say I have been a fan ever since and so I was really looking forward to hearing what he had to offer up on his latest single.

The 2nd Annual FTCR Awards… Nominations – Vote for your favorite!

Logo500x500-awards

Hey guys! It’s that time of year again, and it’s time for the second annual For The Country Record Awards! It was a huge success last year, so I thought we’d do it again this year with the addition of a third category – such excitement! As with last year, I rounded up some of the FTCR writers and a couple of industry friends to create a panel of voters – each person gave me their top 10 for Album, Song and Artist of the Year, running from November 1st, 2013 until October 31st, 2014 (seeing as we vote in November each year). I then cross-referenced their picks and we came up with a shortlist of the most voted. Now it’s your turn! You have two weeks (deadline December 19) to vote in the polls below for who you think should win. This is incredibly prestigious as the winners get a cyber high five of awesomeness (who wouldn’t want that?!) and make a cyber cake (yum).

David Nail ‘I’m A Fire’ – Album Review

David-Nail-Im-a-Fire-CountryMusicIsLove

I must say that I’ve not been one of the David Nail fans championing him and celebrating his renewed success in 2013/14. He was one of those artists I never got around to listening to, but I figured that with a #1 hit in ‘Whatever She’s Got’ (that ultimately I did not appreciate lyrically in my review) and a highly-anticipated new release in ‘I’m A Fire’, now was as good a time as any. Yet, despite my misgivings brought on by the lead single, I was actually pleasantly surprised by this latest record from David. In fact, although it serves as the opener and likely will remain the album’s biggest hit, it doesn’t really fit sonically with the rest of the offerings.

David Nail ‘Whatever She’s Got’ – Single Review

david-nail-650-430

I know this has been out for some time now, but seeing as it’s recently hit #1 I figured it’d be worth a review. David has had a distinct lack of success on country radio during his career so the sales of ‘Whatever She’s Got’ are particularly significant for him, notably as fans who are familiar with his previous material seem to see this latest track as selling out.
