Frankie Ballard Plays To Sell-Out Crowds In London

frankie ballard uk

Taking his electrifying set overseas, Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville’s Frankie Ballard played two sold out shows at London’s Hoxton Bar and Brooklyn Bowl. Ballard brought huge crowds to his Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester shows as well. “It’s a dream come true to be this far from home and discover people who know your music,” said Ballard. “Hearing my lyrics sung with a British accent makes me so happy!” Ballard is heading to Germany next week for three more shows (see dates below) before returning to the U.S.

Frankie Ballard + Charlie Worsham @ Hoxton Square, London, UK | March 17, 2016 – Review

I have a few highlights of C2C Festival and its subsequent ‘Introduces’ shows, but one that I did not expect was the sheer brilliance of Charlie Worsham. I was a fan of his album prior to the festival and I was looking forward to seeing him play, but from the CMA Songwriters Series to the C2C press room to his support slot for Frankie Ballard last night, I was amazed and entertained every step of the way. After days two and three had been bigger and better than anybody could have expected, it was hard to imagine how day three could top it. Andrew Combs was around to get things going, introducing the rootsier, edgier sound of the evening. He was by far the most Americana act on the bill, with many wondering how he reached the main stage, but nonetheless he gave a good performance with a selection of material showcasing his great lyrics, a real country sound and some old school rock ‘n’ roll. For me he didn’t have as much on stage charisma as some of the superstar acts, but that’s to be expected, and playing to a fairly empty arena (as it unfortunately was at that stage) has got to have an impact.

Warner Bros. Records/Warner Music Nashville’s Frankie Ballard premiered the new music video for his current single “It All Started With A Beer” on RollingStone.com yesterday. The track is a look back at love and happiness that’s grown over time despite the bumps life offers along the way. It starts with a simple acoustic guitar played over a vibey organ line and builds like a couple swirling on the dance floor to one of the Michigan-born Ballard’s laidback guitar solos as he sings “Ain’t it crazy, baby, how we got here/it all started with a beer.”
