VIDEO: John & Jacob ‘I’d Go Back’

john-jacob

John & Jacob recently finished up a tour of the UK supporting Striking Matches, and have been winning over fans this side of the water for some time. Last month they released the music video to their latest single ‘I’d Go Back’ from their self-titled debut album, and they kept things simple for the emotional ballad about looking back on a failed relationship. The named duo plus their three other bandmates are all holed up in a picturesque studio playing the song, as the moon peeks over the horizon outside the window. It’s a marked change of pace for the guys who are normally so energetic and upbeat, but sometimes you need to take things down a little and get reflective.

I’ve seen Striking Matches play five times, and this would be the second time I saw John & Jacob, so I had an inkling of what would be in store on the night of November 11th, and I was excited about it. The venue (a fairly recently-refurbished arts club on the fringes of Liverpool city centre) was already about half-full when John & Jacob took to the stage at 8pm, all smiles and energy. Kicking things off enthusiastically and egging on the crowd, they were quick to win almost everybody over, with some present clearly already big fans of the duo. Charismatic and enamoured by their first trip to the city (even making a red versus blues joke), they were a lot of fun and their joy drove the crowd into a cheering frenzy, especially on the likes of ‘Done’, a Band Perry song they co-wrote.

John & Jacob – Album Review

john-and-jacob

Although it was released last year in the US, after extensive headline and support touring in the UK and alongside airplay on BBC Radio 2, John & Jacob are officially releasing their self-titled debut album overseas. Having said this, they have been selling the record at each of their shows here since it was released, so I would imagine it would be fairly well known by their fans, and so the aim of having an album release in the UK seems to be to try and tap into the majority of the UK not involved in the country music scene.

John & Jacob @ Camden Barfly, London, UK | February 3rd, 2015 – Review

J&J 6

John & Jacob first registered on my radar when I heard their insanely catchy song ‘Be My Girl’ on ABC’s hit show, Nashville. After supporting UK tours by Kacey Musgraves and The Band Perry, both of which I missed due to incredibly poor choices, they first played a UK headlining show at The Borderline in Soho last year, summing up their impressive rise in popularity in the UK in a relatively short time.
