Vince Gill needs no introduction, especially from someone like me, who is largely inexperienced in much of his immense back catalogue. Being one of the most versatile musicians around, and being an experienced producer, musician, performer and writer, you can almost always expect a complete album with very few weak links from Vince. ‘Down To My Last Bad Habit’ is no exception, with fantastic guitar playing, homely vocals and a great groovy vibe.

“Take Me Down,” the first single from the album, features vocal assists by Little Big Town and has already been shipped to radio. “A masterful appraisal of the volcanic force of love,” one critic calls it. Hear it at http://www.npr.org/2015/11/19/456382190/songs-we-love-vince-gill-take-me-down.

Vince Gill ‘Take Me Down’ Ft. Little Big Town- Single Review

vince

Vince Gill recently announced that his new album, Down To My Last Bad Habit, is set to be released on February 12th of next year. Gill wrote/co-wrote, co-produced, and is a featured musician on all 12 tracks on the new record. The album marks Gill’s first solo album since 2011’s Guitar Slinger. In 2013, he partnered with famed steel guitarist Paul Franklin on Bakersfield as a tribute to the famous “Bakersfield Sound” of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.

A world-class guitar player and songwriter, Gill has 20 Grammy Awards to his credit, along with inductions in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Gill has established himself as country music’s most eloquent and impassioned champion. His new record has already received a great deal of buzz around it, and rightly so. Down To My Last Bad Habit will no doubt be yet another excellent record from Gill, featuring collaborations with Little Big Town and country newcomer Cam. Gill recently released the lead single, “Take Me Down”, from the upcoming record, and the single already sits at #2 of iTunes’ Country Hot Tracks.

Everyone Wants To Write With Ashley Monroe – The Buddy & Jim Show Recap

Ashley Monroe was once so distraught she found herself knocking on Vince Gill’s door and pouring her heart out earlier this year. Gill came to the door in his sweatpants, heard her out and then proceeded to call out to his wife. “Amy,” he said, “looks like we’ve got a wounded bird here.”

Monroe was laughing telling the story recalling how she and Gill had started writing years before he produced her album Like a Rose and this year’s record The Blade. Together they have written ten songs.

“Vince really understands my voice,” she said to Buddy Miller and Frankie Pine on a recent episode of The Buddy & Jim Show on Sirius XM Outlaw Country. Pine, who works with Miller on the music for the television show Nashville, was substituting for Jim Lauderdale who is recording in Memphis. “When I was a little older and signed with Warner Nashville, I knew exactly what I wanted my record to sound like. I just saw Vince’s name in my head.”
